A former science and mathematics teacher, Dr John West has also worked as a Lecturer in Mathematics Education at The University of Western Australia (UWA) and Edith Cowan University (ECU). John works part time as the WA Project Officer for the Maths in Schools Professional Learning Program, and as a sessional lecturer for The University of Notre Dame Australia. In his spare time, John works as a fly-in/fly-out numeracy consultant for Coober Pedy Area School in South Australia and Ivanhoe Grammer School in Melbourne. John is the immediate past president of the Mathematical Association of Western Australia (1999-2024).
