Professional Bio
Wee Tiong SEAH is Professor in Mathematics Education at The University of Melbourne. He has more than 25 years of experience in initial teacher education and in-service professional development in Australia, across different tertiary institutions and through state, federal and Catholic education departments respectively. His work has been informed by extensive experience in mathematics teaching and pastoral care across educational settings in Singapore and Australia. Wee Tiong has been interested in how aspects of motivation (especially values) can be developed and/or shaped to optimise students’ mathematics learning, and to foster / maintain mathematics education well-being. He has also been examining how cultural variables (including Confucian and Taoist philosophies) are associated with – and can thus be harnessed for – effective mathematics teaching and learning.
